WELCOME TO MY BLOG:
Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Lucy Thompson and I am a film studies student at Hills Road sixth form college. The purpose of this blog is to document my progress towards making my first short film. I have never done anything like this before so I am excited to try something new and be more creative!!!
For our A Level coursework we need to document all the research we do towards writing a screenplay and creating a short film as the final product. We could decide between creating a short film or a storyboard. I chose to create a short film as I have never had this opportunity and I want to make the most of the resources I am being offered. I will be writing about any short films I watch that inspire me or help to develop my ideas.
A film I have always loved and felt inspired by is The Grand Budapest Hotel. It is not my favourite film but visually and stylistically it is stunning. The aesthetics of every shot in the film intrigue me as they convey the emotions in every scene. The colour palettes often clash in order to draw your eye to the characters or to a certain object in the scene. This is Wes Anderson's way of controlling what the viewer takes from his film. I aim to create something just as visually interesting but by putting my own style on it, it will become my own.
